We went to Midnight Madness at an outlet about an hour from our home this morning. We viewed this as a fun adventure and anticipated it. The ONE thing I wanted out of this was a Coach purse, even knowing the outlet stores stock past season merchandise (who cares in a year?) and not ever their "best", which I could never afford at the best sale. was an additional 10% off at the cash register. I have never been a part of anything so totally CRAZY in my life. Getting there shortly after midnight, the line was already way deep into the parking lot. There was significant crowd rage as people thought others were shoving their way in somehow. Once you got in the stpecore, there was a sense of having won the lottery and common sense vanished. I made it!! I in the store and there are literally hundreds of people still out there. I found a purse in the style I coveted in the store, although it was $800 and leather in the store. This was the black "signature" model. Marked at $409 for factory outlet, another 30% off as part of the w/e sale and the additional 10% off for being there for "midnight madness", the purse cost around $280. Great. I expected to spend that much and it was the style I wanted. The helpful little clerk showed me the accessories she likes to carry, a signature credit card/checkbook wallet, marked down 30% for being "signature", and a black leather "skinny" that I really don know what you do with. I also grabbed a black signature belt I never thought of buying, but I probably WILL use, and a silly little keyfob, only $21 with the 10% off, but that would have bought a book that would give me far more pleasure. I stuck with these 2 stupid wallets, total around $100, I don want and the outlet is an hour away.
Worst story of the morning, a man, woman, and older teenage girl were 3 ahead of me in line. It took an hour to check them out, meaning I was in line for an hour with my "kill", which is how it felt by then. They had their loot rung up in same size groupings no one could figure out. As they finally left, the rest of the line booed them, some yelling, "Thanks for keeping us in line all night", and the man said, "I just have more money than you." That capped it off. I felt road rage it took an hour to disperse. This was an event we had anticipated for days, something that was supposed to be a fun adventure and it turned ugly right at the start in the Coach store. I don know what they were selling by then because I didn want the black signature; I wanted the brown and was told it was alll already gone. If so, then I don know what stock was being sold. There were tons of ugly bright colored tote bags with matching accessories, tables full of those "skinny wristlets", that might hold a couple credit cards and some cash, the stupid credit card wallet I bought,[url=http://nikefree.mobilejeti.com]nike free[/url], which also holds a check book I don carry. and those key fobs. They also had some quilted coats, lots of belts, hats, scarves, etc., but it was my impression the major "good" bags, like I got, were gone by the time I got out of the store. My husband had moved on to another store to wait on me and was so sleepy by the time I got there he wanted to go home. I encouraged him to move on. Every store was packed wall to wall with people and all the lines were 30 = 40 minutes deep. Was the merchandise or the early bird special prices worth it? NOOOOOOOOO. I been told the stuff at outlet malls is "off market", seconds, past season, and the prices regularly weren that much lower than buying "new". They were right. The ticketed prices were nothing special. The merchandise was nothing special. The whole thing was a kind of crowd madness I ashamed to say I got caught in. I now sad I wasted at least $100 on things I never use when I need a pair of shoes that will cost that much, I got a sick cat, and I disabled, so I don even go anywhere except to the doctor and the occasional shopping trip. But, by God, I got a Coach purse and I was one of the first in the store. Does anything else matter? I won the lottery. The guy with all the money? We figured he selling all that loot on eBay, so check it out tomorrow. I bet there is a ton of Coach outlet merchandise on eBay over the week end. With the w/e specials, he can sell it for the ticketed price and make a 40% profit. Not a bad way to earn your income and it tax free. So, if you going to do Midnight Madness at a Coach outlett, spend up your credit card and then unload it on eBay. You make enough money to buy the real thing in a Coach store.
